Meet The Dreggs

Australian Indie-Folk duo, The Dreggs, was formed in 2017, made up of Paddy Macrae and Zane Harris. Growing up in the Sunshine Coast with the ocean by their feet, their music is best described as Indie-Folk and Roots, with a little coastal vibe in the mix. From train-like guitar melodies with a driving beat to smooth harmonies and enchanting finger picking, The Dreggs encompass a whole range of emotion with their music.

Who are you and what do you create?
We are Paddy and Zane, we’re an acoustic folk duo from the Sunshine Coast.

What kind of inspirations go into your work?
We basically turn to the ocean for everything. If we’re confused or upset or even happy, normally spending a bit of time in the water will clarify why we’re feeling that way. Other than that we are surrounded by a lot of inspiring people at the moment so we can’t help but be inspired by them also.

In what space do you like to create most?
I wish we had a cool answer like when we are on tour or overseas or something like that but honestly our place we seem to create most is inside our home, maybe its because that’s where we are most comfortable.

What has been your favourite or most important work to date?
I think our favourite work is still to come. We have some songs to come out soon that we’re super proud of.

Wrapping up the OPEN AIR series, The Dreggs were recorded on a moody day at the spectacular Point Cartwright and will be streamed into your living room. Don’t miss this stunning performance, available online here and via Facebook at 4pm on Sun 9 Aug.
